How does the trash can clean-out work?

Sparkle Cans provides trash can cleaning services within residential communities once per month, the day after your regular trash collection day. This includes Saturday, if your trash collection day is on a Friday.

Sparkle Cans uses a non-toxic heat system that kills bacteria and eliminates pests. Performing the service on a monthly basis will provide customers with cans that are fresh and clean. The cans remain cleaner and less pungent on a regular basis, thus reducing the chances of pest infestations and microorganism growth detrimental to health.

Initially, your trash cans may require up to three scheduled cleanings in order to remove build-up and grime.

Do I need to be home on my scheduled day of service?

You do not need to be home while we perform this service. Your only responsibility is to leave your trash cans at the curb or in another designated area. Our technicians will never enter your backyard or residence, so your cans must be accessible to them for cleaning.

How much does it cost?

The cost depends on the service preference and number of trash cans. Up to three cans is included in the each price listed; additional cans can be added for an additional fee. We offer one-time services as well as options for paying for regular service on a monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual basis.

Do I have to prepay for the entire year?

You do not have to prepay for the entire year; however, customers that choose to pay annually receive a discount.

Do you provide a one-time service?

Yes, you may sign up for a one-time service for $40.00 for up to three cans. Additional cans can be added onto the one-time service for $7.99 per can.

If you like the service, don’t forget to sign up for regular service to benefit from cost savings.

If I sign up for service, when will my cans be cleaned?

Sparkle Cans provides trash can cleaning once per month on the day after your regular trash collection day. This includes Saturdays, if your trash collection day is on Friday.

You will receive an informational email when you sign up for service, which will include your regular dates of service for the year. To avoid this email getting sent to your Junk folder, add service@sparklecans.com to your contacts.

An email or text reminder will be sent the day prior to service. In the event that a national holiday falls on your regularly scheduled date, your service for that month will be scheduled either a week earlier or a week later.

What happens if I move out of the Sparkle Cans service area?

There are no contractual agreements associated with the service other than the service plan you selected and for which you paid. You may cancel at any time as long as your cancellation notification is provided to us at least 10 days prior to your scheduled date of billing, whether your service plan is billed monthly, quarterly, biannually, or annually. NOTE: There will be no refunds of any amount previously charged for a monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual service agreement if service is cancelled prior to the term of the original service plan purchased or if service is no longer needed due to relocation outside of our service area.

However, if you move to a location outside of our service area, you may gift any remaining service on your account to anyone within our service area in lieu of forfeiting your remaining service.

What if my HOA does not allow my trash cans to remain out past trash day?

If your HOA does not allow your cans to remain out past trash day, we ask that you specify an alternative area that is accessible to our technicians and agreeable to your HOA. After service completion, our technicians will return the trash cans to a designated storage area, if applicable.

In addition, if you provide us with your HOA contact information, we can discuss the situation with the HOA manager or board to see if we can agree upon a solution in which they will make an exception on your regular day of Sparkle Cans trash can cleaning service. HOA’s usually work with us once they understand the health and environmental benefits that result from the service that is being provided.

What if my cans have trash in them before you arrive?

Since the trash can cleaning service is provided the day after your trash disposal service, any bags that are in the trash cans upon arrival will be removed during the service and put back after completion.

However, there are a few instances where we may not be able to perform your service:

  • If your trash cans are not in the designated area for service.
    • Our technicians will never enter your backyard or residence, so cans need to be in a designated area that is accessible if no one is home.
  • If the trash within your cans is not contained within a bag.
  • If the items within your can consist of hazardous chemical wastes, such as paint or oil, or building materials, such as concrete, plaster, or stucco.

If your cans could not be serviced for any reason, you will receive an email notification with an explanation.

What if I am away and cannot put my cans out for you to service?

If you cannot put your trash cans out for service, please notify us in advance of your regular cleaning day, and we will work with you to reschedule your service for another day.

What if you miss my service date due to an equipment problem?

If we have a problem with any of our equipment, we will notify you as soon as possible and attempt to reschedule service for a later day. If rescheduling is not possible, you will be given a credit for that month, and we will be back on your regular scheduled date of service the following month.

My neighbors and I both want service; can we split the payment and combine our cans?

While we love to provide service to multiple residents of the same neighborhood our prices are structured per household; however, we do offer discounts to each household that signs up for service at the same time. In addition, ask us about referral discounts!
